Questioning 9/11As the events of late 2002 and early 2003
unfolded, and the U.S. marched into a war based on lies, I found myself looking
backwards... at the event that set all this in motion.
What I found troubled me. Eventually, I made a
leaflet, and passed it out at anti-war rallies. The leaflet
said:
The June 3rd, 2002 issue of Aviation Week reported that on the morning of September 11th, NORAD (North American airspace defense), was running a drill called ‘Vigilant Guardian’ to test North American air defense capabilities in the event of a nationwide air defense crisis. According to a NORAD employee, the 4 hijacked flights “fit so perfectly into the exercise scenario, it was initially assumed that they were a part of it.” Before you resume your conversation... think about that for a minute. In 1999, when golfer Payne Stewart’s Learjet missed a turn and went off-course fighter jets were scrambled, arriving promptly alongside the errant plane. Between September 2000 and June of 2001, the Associated Press reported that 67 such routine intercepts were made. On the morning of September 11th, American Airlines Flight 11 missed a turn at 8:14 am. A few minutes later ground controllers heard unmistakeable sounds of a hijacking in progress through the cockpit radio. Half an hour later when it crashed into World Trade Center, no fighter jets had yet been scrambled. Similar inexplicable delays occurred with respect to hijacked Flights 175 & 77. Before you fold up this leaflet... think about that for a minute. After being hijacked, flight 77 flew for 47 minutes before hitting the Pentagon, a building which sits within the most heavily restricted airspace in America, without being intercepted by F-16’s. On October 1, 2001, Richard B. Myers, the man in charge of the Air Force response on 9/11 was promoted. Before you jam this into your purse or pocket... think about that for a minute. On July 26th, 2001, a little more than a month before the 9/11 attacks, CBS news reported that Attorney General John Ashcroft was leaving on a fishing trip aboard a chartered government jet. When asked about it, the Justice Department told CBS that Ashcroft was travelling exclusively by leased jets because of a threat assessment by Ashcroft’s FBI security detail. Yet in mid-July of 2001, when acting FBI Director Thomas Pickard attempted to meet with John Ashcroft to discuss the terror threat within the United States, he was told that Ashcroft “didn’t want to hear about it.” Although Pickard met with Ashcroft four more times that summer, sources say he never spoke about al-Qaeda again - until after 9/11. Before you throw this leaflet away... think about that for a minute. On January 23, 2002 the LA Times reported that a man named Omar Saeed Sheikh had wired $100,000 to Mohammed Atta a month before the September 11th attacks. According to many British newspapers, Sheikh also has been involved in terrorist kidnappings being run by Pakistan’s powerful Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI. Reportedly the money was wired under instructions from the head of ISI, General Mahmood Ahmed. On the morning of September 11th General Ahmed was in Washington for a week of meetings with the heads of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, George Tenet of the CIA, and others within the Bush administration. Before you go back to your comfortable life... think about that for a minute. On November 13, 2003, 9/11 Commission member, former Senator Max Cleland appeared on CNN and stated in regards to the “deal” reached with the White House earlier that week on the commission’s access to White House documents “This is a scam. It's disgusting. America is being cheated." Less than a week later, Cleland was quietly ‘offered’ an unrelated administration position and removed from the commission by the White House. Before you tune out the implications of where this is leading... think about that for a minute. I wasn't the only person to begin questioning the events of September 11th. Professor David Ray Griffin remembers receiving an email containing 9/11 anomalies, and dismissed it out of hand... at first. Later his curiosity got the better of him, and it led him on a journey that ultimately resulted in a book compiling the many contradictions in the official story of 9/11. His thought-provoking book examines dispassionately the case for complicity by the Bush administration in the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Howard Zinn , author of A People's History of the United States, writes this capsule endorsement on the back of the book: "The most persuasive argument I have seen for further investigation of the Bush administration's relationship to that historic and troubling event." Rosemary Reuther of the National Catholic Review writes, "Griffin writes in a precise and careful fashion, avoiding inflammatory rhetoric. He argues for a high probability for the Bush Administration's complicity in allowing and facilitating the attacks, based not on any one conclusive piece of evidence, but the sheer accumulation of all of the data. He concludes by calling for a genuinely independent investigative effort that would examine all this evidence. He himself plans to send the book to the Kean Commission presently charged with that task, even though he has doubts about its real independence. I personally found Griffin's book both convincing and chilling. If the complicity of the Bush Administration to which he points is true, then Americans have a far greater problem on their hands than even the more ardent anti-war critics have imagined. If the administration would do this, what else would they do to maintain and expand their power?" I, too, was impressed by Professor Griffin's work, and ended up summarizing it into a Keynote/Powerpoint slide presentation.
